Welcome to 5th National Thiruarutpa Recital Festival 2025
We warmly welcome you to this special event dedicated to Vallalar, a revered saint known for his profound teachings on compassion, spirituality, and universal brotherhood.
The Malaysia Vallalar Sanmaarkka Sangam has successfully hosted this event for the past four years (2021-2024). We are elevating the event to a higher level for the fifth year by collaborating with the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU). This year’s event will benefit from the guidance and support of the university’s distinguished faculty members.
This year, we are proud to present the following competitions, designed to highlight Vallalar’s wisdom and his messages of love and unity:
- Arutpa
- Speech
- Art Colouring and Animation
- Quiz
- Thirukkural
Of the five (5) competitions, the first three (Arutpa, Speech, and Animation) require participants to upload their performance materials to the webpage. For the remaining two (2) competitions (Quiz and Kural), participants must present their performances physically at APU. Please refer to the rules and regulations for each competition.
Important Dates:
- 1st February 2024: Webpage available for student practice.
- 7th March 2025 to 28th March 2025: Submission period for uploading materials.
- 15th April 2025 to 24th April 2025: Announcement of selected participants.
- 3rd May 2025: Final competitions at Asia Pacific University (APU).
This event provides a unique opportunity to explore Vallalar’s profound teachings through music and knowledge, fostering spiritual growth and understanding for all participants.
For this event, we expect participation from Tamil, Malay, and international school children. Therefore, the webpage has been designed in both Tamil and English. Students who are unable to read Tamil can refer to the English version with transliterations provided in Romanized English.

Upcoming Events
Arutpa
All participating students must fully memorize three Thiru Arutpa songs. For Categories 1, 2, and 3, memorization is sufficient, and no explanation is required. However, students in Categories 4 and 5 must memorize three songs and also provide clear and meaningful explanations for each. The submission period for uploading materials is from 7th March until 24 March 2025.
Speech
Category 2: (7-9 years: 2.5-3 minutes),
Category 3: (10-12 years: 3.5-4 minutes),
Category 4: (13-15 years: 4.5-5 minutes),
Category 5: (16+ years: 5.5-6 minutes).
Participants must submit a video speech on Sanmarkam principles, emphasizing virtuous and ethical living. The submission period for uploading materials is from 7th March until 24 March 2025.
Animation
Category 1: Individual, Age below 6 (Coloring) – Venue: APU
Category 2: Individual, Ages 7 to 9 (Pencil Art) – Venue: APU
Categories 3, 4, 5: Group of Two, Ages 10 to 12, Ages 13 to 15, and Age 17+ (Computer Animation) – Duration: 2.5 to 3.5 minutes.
Kural
Category 2: Ages 7 to 9 will recite 8 Kurals,
Category 3: Ages 10 to 12 will recite 12 Kurals,
Category 4: Ages 13 to 15 will recite 15 Kurals.
Students who pre-register through the official website can participate in the competition on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Asia Pacific University (APU).
Quiz
This competition will be held individually, with participants divided into four age groups:
Category 2: (Ages 7 to 9),
Category 3: (Ages 10 to 12),
Category 4: (Ages 13 to 15),
Category 5: (Ages 16 and above).
Students who pre-register through the official website can participate in the competition on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Asia Pacific University (APU).
