Sanmarga Speech Competition 2025

Vallalar Speech 2025
Participating in the Vallalar speech competition will offer numerous benefits to school children. First, it provides an opportunity for them to develop and enhance their public speaking skills, which are valuable for academic and personal growth. It will boost their confidence and help them become more comfortable speaking in front of an audience. Additionally, the competition encourages critical thinking and research, as students will need to gather information, structure their thoughts, and express them clearly.
Taking part in this event will also foster a sense of discipline, as students will need to prepare and practice thoroughly. Moreover, it will promote the values of creativity, communication, and leadership. Through engaging with the topic of Vallalar's teachings, students will also gain a deeper understanding of cultural and spiritual heritage, allowing them to connect with their roots while developing a well-rounded perspective.
The competition is structured into four groups based on age, with specific time limits for each
group:
- Category 2: Ages 7 to 9 (2.5 to 3 minutes)
- Category 3: Ages 10 to 12 (3.5 to 4 minutes)
- Category 4: Ages 13 to 15 (4.5 to 5 minutes)
- Category 5: Ages 16 and Above (5.5 to 6 minutes)
Participants are required to prepare a speech and submit a video presentation adhering to their
group’s time limit. The speech should focus on the principles of Sanmarkam, emphasizing
living a virtuous and ethical life grounded in:
1. Love.
2. All living beings are our brothers and sisters.
3. Pleasant speech.
4. There is only one God.
5. Serving living beings is the true worship of God.
6. Equality.
7. The importance of inner and outer purity.
8. Explain a specific Arutpa hymn.
Sanmarkam, as taught by Saint Vallalar (Ramalinga Adigal), advocates a universal path
transcending religious boundaries, encouraging spiritual enlightenment through self-
purification and moral transformation to achieve unity with the divine and promote universal
harmony.
An expert panel will evaluate the submitted video speeches to select participants for the final
round. The results will be published on our official webpage.
The panel will evaluate the video presentations to select the winners, who will then deliver their speeches live at Asia Pacific University on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, the day of the competition.
